According to the health department, 803 new coronavirus cases were reported in Maharashtra today (April 6), a remarkable increase of 234 over the number reported the day before. Three more patients also passed away from the sickness in the state.
The state’s overall COVID-19 total jumped to 81,47,673 with these new entries, while the death toll increased to 1,48,454, the agency said in a bulletin.
On Wednesday, the state reported 569 cases and two deaths (April 5).
According to the alert, Mumbai reported 216 cases and one death related to the respiratory ailment. The other two coronavirus-related fatalities in the state were attributed to Thane city and Jalna district, it said.
Coronavirus death rates in Maharashtra were 1.82 percent, while recovery rates were 98.13 percent. According to the alert, 3,874 new instances of coronavirus infection have been reported in the state during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 79,95,232. 11,385 fresh coronavirus tests were performed in the state, according to the health department, bringing their total to 8,66,75,772.
According to information provided by the municipal government’s Health department, Delhi recorded 606 new Covid cases on Thursday, the most since last August, with a positive rate of 16.98%. One additional Covid-positive individual died in the city, according to the health bulletin. Nevertheless, it acknowledged that the “Covid discovery was accidental.”
On August 26, there were 620 instances in the nation’s capital. With 509 persons testing positive in a single day, the city recorded a positivity rate of 26.54 percent on Wednesday (April 5), the highest in over 15 months. The optimism rate had reached 30% in January of the previous year.
On Tuesday, April 4, Delhi had 521 cases and one death. The percentage of positive responses was 15.64. The message states that the current COVID-19 death toll for the city is 26,534. With the additional cases, Delhi now has 20,12,670 infections. 3,569 Covid tests were carried out on Wednesday, according to the statistics.
With a high increase in H3N2 influenza cases throughout the nation, Delhi has seen a surge in the number of new Covid infections over the last few days. According to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, the Delhi administration is monitoring the rise of Covid cases in the city and is “prepared to confront any scenario.”
After leading a review discussion on the Covid issue, Kejriwal spoke to media and stated there was no reason to panic at this time since the city administration was taking the necessary action. On Monday, Delhi reported 293 new cases, with the positivity rate increasing to 18.53 percent, or roughly one in every five tests returning a positive result.
On Sunday, there were 429 Covid instances in the city, with a positive rate of 16.09% and one fatality. On Saturday, it recorded 416 instances, with a positive rate of 14.37 percent. For the first time since the pandemic’s beginning, there were no new cases on January 16.
At the city’s specialised Covid hospitals, just around 120 of the 7,989 beds are filled, and 1,337 patients are receiving care at home, according to information released by the health department on Thursday. There are presently 2,060 active cases, the statement said. Medical professionals believe that the recent uptick in Covid infections in Delhi may be caused by the virus’s new XBB.1.16 strain.
They argued that individuals should adopt Covid-appropriate behaviour, obtain booster doses for their immunisations, and emphasise that there is no reason to fear. They said that this increase in occurrences may be due to more patients receiving Covid tests as a preventative measure when they actually have the flu and exhibit fever and accompanying symptoms.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), influenza A subtype H3N2 is to blame for the surge in influenza incidence. More hospitalisations are being caused by the H3N2 virus than by the other subtypes. A runny nose, a persistent cough, and a fever are the symptoms.
