Premoday Khakha, a top government employee in the Women and Child Development department, was observed rushing to flee with his family in an effort to avoid capture as word of months-long rape and pregnancy of a child spread.
The culprit was reportedly observed attempting to flee around 9.35 am on Monday and was captured on what seems to be CCTV video that was found by the Delhi Police to be a moving automobile. He was wearing a blue shirt.
The accused government employee, according to media sources, was in contact with a lawyer and getting ready to file a bail application with the court.
Details of the case
Premoday Khakha, the deputy director of the department of women and children’s development, was charged with repeatedly raping a friend’s 14-year-old daughter between November 2020 and January 2021. Furthermore, the survivor is said to have received abortion drugs from the official’s wife.
Since her father’s passing, the victim has been living with the accused and his family. The accused, who the youngster apparently referred to as her maternal uncle or “mama,” served as her local guardian.
On the directive of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the representative of the Delhi government has also been suspended.
According to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the accused and his wife are the subjects of a FIR that Delhi Police has filed against them. The wife is accused of giving the woman drugs to end the pregnancy.
