According to Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Friday, the Kejriwal administration would undertake an anti-open burning campaign from May 15 to June 15 as part of the Summer Action Plan.
He said that seven agencies would deploy 231 daytime patrolling teams and 186 nighttime patrolling teams as part of the anti-open burning operation.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have also been given directives for tight 24-hour surveillance of dump sites.
Additionally, a standard operating method has been created to reduce fire occurrences at waste sites. This SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) has to be properly followed, according to instructions,” Rai stated.
Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, unveiled the revised action plan on May 1. With an emphasis on reducing dust pollution, it tries to tackle summertime air pollution.
To reduce air pollution, the Delhi government already has a winter action plan. The winter action plan targets on emissions from vehicles, industry, and firework pollution.
