A doctor has been arrested for allegedly giving the victim abortion pills in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old girl by her 35-year-old neighbour last week. The victim was seven months pregnant and had terminated her pregnancy, according to police officials. According to the police, the 54-year-old doctor who owns a local clinic was taken into custody on Saturday following an investigation.
“We discovered during the investigation that the accused took medication from a doctor for an abortion,” stated Shankar Awatade, senior police inspector from the Central Police Station. By the Medical Practices Act, we filed a lawsuit against him. After appearing in court, the doctor was placed under police custody pending more investigation.
A 35-year-old male was previously taken into custody on charges of raping and impregnating a minor. After her pregnancy was discovered, the accused reportedly gave her abortion pills. The foetus had been buried after her miscarriage. The offender is allegedly assisted by his wife and in-laws in committing the crime.
The victim was a student who resided next door to the accused, who lived in Ulhasnagar with his wife and kids. Under the pertinent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, a case was later brought against the accused, his wife, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
