Following his motto of “pehle matdaan, phir jalpaan” (voting before breakfast), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cast his ballot at 7:01 a.m. on Thursday at Gorakhnath Kanya Prathmik Vidyalaya near Jhulelal.
Adityanath told reporters, “It is not only our right, but also our job and obligation, as we may utilise our vote in urban local body elections and help to make the city smart and secure.
In May, the weather is lovely. I believe it is God’s favour that people may vote and elect a decent urban administration. All necessary preparations have been made by the State Election Commission to conduct the elections. I urge everyone to cast a ballot,” he stated.
On Thursday morning, voting for the first round of urban local body elections in Uttar Pradesh started.
The vote, which started at 7 am, will go on until 6 pm, according to authorities.
The State Election Commission (SEC) reports that voters in 37 districts will exercise their right to vote in order to choose 7,593 representatives, including 10 mayors, and 820 corporators in the first round of voting.
Before the Lok Sabha elections the following year, these elections will be a crucial test for the parties.
The first round of voting is open to more than 2.40 crore individuals, according to authorities, who also noted that party insignia are used to fight every position.
