According to reports, King Charles is committed to keeping up his friendship with Prince Harry for the benefit of his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. The monarch, who has been battling illness since February, is adamant about being a present and active part of his grandchildren’s life despite growing rifts, royal snubs, and shocking interviews. He emphasises that video chats alone are not enough. Since the Sussexes departed the UK in 2020, the King has only seen Archie a few times and has only ever met Lilibet once.
“Not satisfied with Archie and Lilibet’s video calls,” said King Charles
Harry’s little princess Lilibet was three years old a few days ago, and rumours have it that the King gave her a beautiful birthday present and card. In an attempt to make up for the time he missed when his diagnosis forced him to scale back on his social activities, a source close to the monarch tells the Mirror that he is now more keen than ever to prioritise his family and obligations.
“The King is committed to being present in all of his grandchildren’s lives,” the source claims. Family is the most important thing to him, and no matter how his connection with his son develops, he will never be happy to occasionally see his grandchildren via video conference.
With their son Archie only a year old, Harry and Meghan decided to resign from their positions as members of the royal family in 2020. The pair has primarily resided in California ever since, travelling to the UK very occasionally. Those who know the King well have seen a shift in his demeanour, pointing out a closer bond with the three kids of his son William. describing him to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis as a “fantastic and enthusiastic grandpa”.
Harry and King Charles will “never cut ties.”
Ingrid Seward, a royal journalist, highlighted in her most recent book, “My Mother and I: The Inside Story of the King and Our Late Queen,” that the monarch has always valued family. He laments the short time he gets to spend with his grandchildren, having seen firsthand how his parents’ professional duties overwhelm them.
He will therefore never sever his relationship with Harry. He is not interested in having FaceTime contact with his son’s kids. While they are still young enough to be able to benefit from his wisdom, he wants to get to know them and become active in their lives.” The author clarified and said that this desire has grown stronger as a result of his fight with cancer. “He knows he won’t be around forever because of his cancer, which has made it all the more poignant for him.”
In addition to the long-running disputes detailed in the Netflix and Spare series, Harry has recently exhibited indications of reconciliation. Even after King Charles’s cancer fight, he returned from a trip to the UK and expressed his profound care for family concerns. Harry’s close buddy stressed, “There has never been and never will be a problem with The King’s presence in their lives. The door is open at all times.”
