Beginning with the 2024–2025 academic year, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai will charge a lower tuition—21 lakh rupees—than the IIMs Ahmedabad (31,5 lakh), Calcutta (31 lakh), and Bangalore (24,5 lakh rupees).
The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Act was passed this year, renaming the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) as IIM Mumbai. The price structure was debated on Wednesday during the institute’s first board meeting since that time.
Before it became IIM Mumbai, NITIE provided post-graduate diploma programs in industrial engineering, industrial management, and sustainability management. Admission to these courses was restricted to engineering graduates, and the tuition cost 7.5 lakh.
The three courses that IIM Mumbai will offer—MBA (general), MBA (sustainable and management), and MBA (operations and supply chain management)—all have the same cost structure. Similar to other IIMs, admission to the courses will be decided using the Common Admission Test.
Students from various academic backgrounds will be able to enroll in the first two courses. For those interested in an MBA in operations and supply chain management, an engineering degree is required. Following modifications to the requirements, applicants with backgrounds in statistics and mathematics will also be taken into account for this course.
Shashi Kiran Shetty, the chairman of the IIM Mumbai Board of Governors, and Manoj Kumar Tiwari, the director of the organization, were present during the board’s first meeting.
