Imran Khan said in an interview for the first time after being released on bail that democracy in Pakistan is at “an all-time low”. According to the former prime minister, the Shahbaz Sharif administration is “petrified of elections” and worries that his party would “wiped out” them in the polls.
The only way they will permit elections, they have concluded, is if I be put in prison or assassinated. Two attempts have been made to harm me, stated Imran Khan.
When questioned about reported protester violence, he stated, “My house was raided while I was away,” while denouncing “all violence.”
“Democracy has never been lower. The court is our last remaining chance, he said. After being detained earlier this week on suspicion of corruption, the former premier was eventually freed on bail as a result of a decision by Pakistan’s High Court.
Following his arrest, rioting broke out over the whole nation, resulting in at least 10 fatalities and many injuries.
“Inside the prison is when they first presented me an arrest warrant. I was kidnapped by the military, as is the law of the jungle. The cops, where were they? The law is absent. It abides by jungle law. “It appears that martial law has been proclaimed here,” stated Imran Khan.
Imran Khan is the target of a “genuine corruption case,” according to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, but “the judiciary has become a stone wall protecting him.”
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the minister of information of Pakistan, supported the man’s detention by stating that “a person who has defied court, who does not abide by the law, who avoid courts and who thinks he’s untouchable and cannot be questioned, has to be treated the way every citizen is treated.”
“We wouldn’t have waited 14 months if we wanted to arrest him or silence him because of his popularity,” she said.
