The Maharashtra government agreed to operate 26 special buses and extend metro services throughout the nine days of the festival in order to provide seamless transit for commuters during the festivities of Navratri in 2023. In a statement, the state administration said that the choice would benefit hundreds of people who travel during Navratri to attend Dandiya, Garga, and Durga Puja celebrations.
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) announced that it would run specialized buses from October 15 to October 23 to accommodate the influx of worshippers during the city’s “Mahalaxmi Yatra.”

The BEST said that these buses would go to the Mahalaxmi temple from Byculla, Mahalaxmi, and a few other railway stations. The extra 26 buses will run from a variety of locations, including Sewree, Lalbaug, and CP Tank. The routes 37, 57, 151, A-63, A-77, 83, and A-357 will all have these unique buses operating on them.
Extension Of Metro Services
To assist commuters attending dandiya festivities travel in the late hours, the state government has also extended metro services in Mumbai from October 19 to October 23. These metro services have been expanded to allow residents to celebrate for prolonged periods of time without worrying about traffic congestion or the cost of late-night travel.
“We made this crucial choice to protect their safety and comfort throughout their trips since the Navratri celebration would necessitate many people traveling in the wee hours of the morning. The commuters will profit greatly from it, and Mumbai residents will see this extension as a wise choice as it would allow them to celebrate the event with more zeal, according to a statement from the CMO.
