In six districts of Odisha on Saturday, lightning caused ten fatalities and three injuries, according to the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), who oversees the state’s disaster management.
According to the SRC, one person passed away in the Angul district, two in Bolangir, one each in Boudh, Jagatsinghpur, and Dhenkanal, and four in Khordha. He stated that the three wounded were from the Khordha district.
SRC Odisha posted the following on X: “Today (02.09.2023), 10 people perished and 3 people were wounded in 6 districts due to lightning. Angul 1, Bolangir 2, Boudh 1, Jagatsinghpur 1, Dhenkanal 1, and Khordha 4 (and 3 wounded) are the casualties.
Three individuals, including a lady, lost their lives earlier in May when lightning hit at several locations inside the Saranakula police’s jurisdiction in the Nayagarh district.
