According to police, a tiny aircraft carrying an Indian student pilot and his Filipino instructor crashed in the Philippines on Wednesday.
The two-seater Cessna aircraft crashed in the province of Apayao, killing two people, according to the official Philippine News Agency.
The remains of Capt. Edzel John Lumbao Tabuzo and aspiring pilot Anshum Rajkumar Konde, however, were left at the accident scene, the report added.
Following its departure from Laoag International Airport at 12:16 pm on Tuesday, the Echo Air Cessna 152 was reported missing, according to local media.
At 3:16 p.m., Tuguegarao Airport was to be reached. It didn’t manage to land, however.
On Wednesday afternoon, the plane’s wreckage was discovered in the province of Apayao.
According to Joeffrey Borromeo, director of the Apayao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the accident site is situated on the boundary between Barangay Salvacion in Luna town and Barangay San Mariano in Pudtol town.
The wreckage of the aircraft and the bodies of Tabuzo and Konde were discovered by a medical and rescue crew on board a Black Hawk chopper of the Philippine Air Force.
The aircraft’s operator, Echo Air International Aviation Academy, has had its activities halted by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, according to INQUIRER.net.
According to the news outlet, the flying school’s activities would continue to be stopped while an investigation into the jet accident is ongoing.
