According to the authorities, six street canines were poisoned to death in Bhubaneswar by unidentified individuals. On Monday, the event occurred in the Chandrasekharpur neighbourhood under the control of the Maitri Vihar Police Station, and an animal rights activist filed a FIR.
It was alleged in Jiban B. Dash’s police complaint from People for Animals that the dogs were given food laced with poison. According to the complaint, killing dogs is prohibited and is punishable by both jail time and a fine.
According to Priyadarshini Nanda, the in-charge of Maitri Vihar Police Station, CCTV video of the area is being examined, and appropriate legal action will be taken.
In the meanwhile, a scooter carrying two ladies and a kid was attacked by stray dogs in Berhampur, causing the rider to lose control of the two-wheeler and crash into a vehicle that was parked by the side of the road.
