Police said on Wednesday that an 85-year-old man died from serious burn injuries sustained in an acid assault after being suspected of using black magic against two people in a hamlet in Maharashtra’s Jalna district.
The deceased, Shrirang Shejul, was a native of the Jafrabad tehsil’s Mhasrul village. He was assaulted with acid on September 1st and lost his battle with burn injuries on September 18th, police said. He had been fighting for his life for more than a week.
Nandu Shejul and Bhaskar Sable, two local suspects, have both been charged with murder by the police. Sable is still at large, while Nandu has been captured. Police said that they found an acid supply in Nandu’s house during their investigation.
The guy was brutally attacked while dozing off on his home’s balcony, according to a report made by the Shrirang’s son. Shrirang’s shouts woke up family members, who discovered him covered in chemicals and with badly burnt bodily parts, according to the authorities.
He was transported from the rural hospital in Jafrabad to the Government Medical College and Hospital in nearby Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar for further care, but he did not survive, according to the reports.
According to a police sub-inspector, the deceased was suspected of using black magic on Nandu and Sable three months before to the occurrence. According to the police officer, the two had challenged the guy and threatened him with severe repercussions if he continued using what they thought to be black magic against them.
