On, April 7, President Droupadi Murmu opened a two-day “Gaj Utsav-2023” on the playground field of the Kaziranga National Park High School in Assam. In Kohora, President Murmu also saw cultural performances by Assamese performers that included the dance styles of Bhortal, Jhumur, and Bihu.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, and the governor were there, according to authorities.
The President will depart for Guwahati in the afternoon, where she will officially launch the “Mount Kanchenjunga Expedition-2023,” they said. She has another engagement later that night: the Gauhati High Court’s silver jubilee festivities.
On the second day of her visit to Assam, President Murmu went on a vehicle safari within the central range of the Kaziranga National Park. She will fly a sortie aboard the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet at the Air Force base in Tezpur on Saturday, April 8, before heading to Delhi.
President Murmu is now in the northeastern state for a three-day visit, it should be noted.
On Thursday early in the morning, she arrived in Golaghat District. At General Field Helipad, Bokakhat in Golaghat, she was welcomed by state Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Assam Chief Minister Sarma.
An annual celebration called the Kaziranga Gaj Utsav is conducted in the national park to encourage the preservation and protection of elephants. To raise awareness of and identify solutions to the growing conflict between people and elephants in the state, the forest and tourist agencies jointly organised it.
