According to authorities, a Dalit lady was reportedly raped and then set afire in Rajasthan’s Barmer district.
According to them, the man, who has 40% burn injuries, is being treated at a government hospital in Jodhpur.
The alleged incident, according to Rajendra Singh, SHO of Pachpadra Police Station, happened on Thursday. The victim was reportedly raped by the suspect, who goes by the name Shakoor, who then doused her in chemicals before lighting her ablaze.
Singh said that the suspect, who lives close to the victim’s home, has been taken into custody.
According to the police, a complaint has been filed under the applicable provisions of the Indian Criminal Code and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
