According to a media source, a 36-year-old shop clerk of Indian descent was shot dead during what seemed to be an armed robbery in the US state of Georgia. Two teenagers were also detained in connection with the homicide.
The Augusta Chronicle newspaper reported last week that Mandeep Singh, a cashier at the Wrens convenience shop, was killed on the spot on June 28 after being shot twice by two 15-year-olds in the Georgian city of Wrens.
Singh, an employee at the business who lived in Augusta, had only been there for a little over a month, according to Wrens Police Chief John Maynard.
According to Maynard, “it initially appeared to be an armed robbery, and at some point, shots were fired, and the clerk was dead.”
He said that throughout the event, kids weren’t hiding their faces or donning masks, making it simpler to identify and apprehend them.
“They entered, and maybe looked at a shelf for five seconds. What they came to accomplish was obvious,” he stated.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab was receiving Singh’s corpse, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Maynard said, “We are pursuing more clues as to why this occurred.
Singh, who was his mother and wife’s only provider, started a GoFundMe campaign to assist his family in covering bills including burial fees and continuing living expenses.
The charity asked for contributions to support Singh’s family through this difficult time, calling him a “genuine soul with an unforgettable personality”.
