Knowing a thing or two about winning IPL championships—done he’s it five times—protective Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma wants to prevent the young players on his team from being burdened by unrealistic expectations.
“We’ll always face expectations wherever we play, not only in the IPL. Having played for so long, it doesn’t worry me, and I’m not concerned about what people are expecting of me, Rohit stated during the Mumbai Indians’ season-opening press conference.
Dewald Brevis and Tilak Verma will be playing for MI for the second consecutive season, but for young Aussie Cameron Green, who has a multi-million dollar contract, the IPL will be a very other animal.
“I don’t want to put them (young people) under too much strain at this time. We will assign them particular duties as we get closer to our first game. But I won’t put them under excessive strain, particularly the few players who have never participated in the IPL, Rohit remarked.
