Players who are not on international assignments have already started their last preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins in a few weeks. Ishant Sharma, a seasoned Indian bowler who will play for the Delhi Capitals, has attended the preseason camp in the capital, among others. Ishant discussed the depth of the Delhi group before beginning his tenure with the new team and expressed confidence in their recently anointed captain David Warner. Aman Khan was emphasized by the speedster along with the introduction of other potential new prospects. With regard to Aman, Ishant expressed optimism, calling the uncapped Mumbai all-rounder “a really bright possibility for the future.”
Ishant Sharma was one of five players whom Delhi Capitals acquired at the mini-auction, which was conducted in December of last year. Sharma was signed for his basic salary of Rs. 50 lakh. On the day of the auction, the team also purchased Aman Khan, exchanging the veteran Shardul Thakur for the youngster from the Kolkata Knight Riders. Aman only had the opportunity to play in one game in the 2022 IPL, during which he scored five runs and bowled one over. Ishant, though, thinks that the 26-year-old cricketer, along with other up-and-coming players like “Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Khaleel Ahmed,” might prove to be an important part of Delhi this season.
Ishant Sharma mentioned David Warner’s extensive experience when asked about the Australian’s leadership skills. In place of Rishabh Pant, who will miss the competition owing to injuries received in a tragic vehicle accident in December, Warner was named the Delhi team’s captain. Warner is a highly seasoned player who has previously led in the IPL, according to Ishant. Everyone of us will work to fulfill our responsibilities while supporting our Captain.
Ishant Sharma also emphasized the contributions of Head Coach Ricky Ponting and DC Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly to the formation of the Delhi Capitals team. “Ponting has helped us in all part of our life and has been incredibly beneficial for the side. Everyone feels welcomed into the Delhi Capitals family because of him. We will also benefit much from Sourav Ganguly’s cricketing expertise, said the 34-year-old seamer.
The David Warner-led Delhi Capitals will play the Lucknow Super Giants away from home in their first game of the 2023 IPL. The game is scheduled to take place at Ekana Sports City on April 1.
