In the approaching Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, in which its partner, the Congress, hopes to challenge the BJP’s dominance, the Janata Dal(United) has revealed their candidates for five seats.
This list is the party’s original choice of Madhya Pradesh candidates, which was made public on Tuesday by JD(U) national general secretary Afaq Ahmed Khan. On November 17, the state is scheduled to conduct elections for its 230-member parliament.
The five candidates are Rameshwar Singla for Petalawad, Shiv Narayan Soni for Vijay Raghavgarh, Tol Singh Bhuria for Thandla, Chandra Pal Yadav for Pichhor, and Ram Kunwar Raikwar for Rajnagar.
Nitish Kumar, the head of the JD(U), left the BJP a year ago when he joined the “Mahagathbandhan,” a confederation made up of the Left, Congress, and his arch-rival Lalu Prasad’s RJD. He threatened to form a broad opposition coalition in order to take on the NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
In order for the multi-party INDIA coalition to be formed, Kumar’s efforts were vital. Kumar’s party is the third member of the coalition to announce its candidates in Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP has been in power for 20 years with the exception of a 15-month spell under Congress leader Kamal Nath.
