Security forces have begun a large search operation to find the terrorists responsible for the assault in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch area on Thursday, which claimed the lives of five Indian Army troops. The manhunt is reportedly growing more difficult because of the deep trees. On Friday, at 10 a.m., the army men will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony in Rajouri.
In addition to attempting to apprehend the terrorists, the enormous operation will hunt for personnel on the ground who may have supplied supplies and assisted the terrorists with assistance by knowing the area’s terrain.
One soldier from the Army is receiving treatment after suffering a catastrophic injury. According to a PTI report, the whole region has been blocked off as drones and sniffer dogs are being employed to find any terrorists who may be lurking nearby.
The Rashtriya Rifles unit that was assigned for counterterrorism operations provided the troops who were injured during the incident. Teams from BDS and FSL are present where the terrorist assault occurred. An NIA team will visit the scene of the terror assault for examination, according to authorities.
According to officials, Rajouri and Poonch, two border districts, have been placed on high alert, and the Line of Control is being closely monitored. Following the incident, traffic on the Bhimber Gali-Poonch route was halted, and passengers were advised to go to Poonch through Mendhar, according to them.
According to the Army, unidentified terrorists opened fire on the vehicle the troops were traveling in, and it caught fire as a result of the suspected use of grenades.
“Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande and all ranks of the Indian Army salute the supreme sacrifice of five Indian Army bravehearts, Hav Mandeep Singh, L/Nk Debashish Baswal, L/Nk Kulwant Singh, Sep Harkrishan Singh, and Sep Sewak Singh who laid their lives down in the line of duty at Poonch Sector yesterday,” the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) wrote in a tweet.
Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu & Kashmir, expressed his sorrow over the deaths of the gallant warriors. “Their significant contributions to the country will never be forgotten. My sympathies are with the families who have lost loved ones, he tweeted.
The incident has been criticized by political parties. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal organized a rally on the Tawi bridge in Jammu city on Thursday night, shouting anti-Pakistani chants.
