Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, appeared before a court in the nation’s capital on Saturday over the Enforcement Directorate summons matter. Later, the Rouse Avenue Court in the city granted him bail.
Kejriwal didn’t have any prior court appearances about this matter. He used video conferencing to appear before the judge at the last hearing.
Kejriwal has been the subject of two complaints from the Enforcement Directorate for allegedly ignoring their request to participate in the investigation of the Delhi excise policy issue.
For Kejriwal’s arrival, the Delhi government increased security outside the court.
On Friday, the court set aside an order regarding the agency’s summonses to Kejriwal. The Enforcement Directorate will record Arvind Kejriwal’s comments on policy formulation, discussions before its adoption, and bribery allegations.
Kejriwal, meanwhile, has been ignoring the summonses, claiming they are unlawful and politically driven.
