After the Seltos in 2019, the Kia Carnival was the second car from the manufacturer to enter the Indian market. The Carnival MPV most likely provided the greatest long-distance traveling experience. This made it highly popular with customers who prioritized comfort. Nevertheless, according to recent rumors, the Korean automaker has stopped selling the wildly popular MPV in India.
The Carnival MPV looks to have been discontinued by Kia owing to the more severe BSVI stage 2 emission requirements that became effective on April 1 despite the fact that the brand has not made an official announcement regarding the matter. It is uncertain if Kia would later improve the 2.2L diesel engine in the Carnival to meet BSVI stage 2 standards.
It’s interesting to note that Kia has changed its other models, including the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens, to comply with the new rules. The fourth-generation Carnival’s redesign is reportedly scheduled to launch globally around January 2024. Kia may finally opt to introduce the redesigned Carnival in India straight the following year.
For Kia to invest money and effort in upgrading Carnival’s older model to comply with the new emission regulations makes little sense.
During the 2023 Auto Fair, Kia displayed the fourth-generation Carnival as the KA4 MPV. In India, this idea MPV was highly appreciated.
A test mule for the facelifted fourth-generation Carnival was seen in South Korea last month. This facelift version will flaunt a new hybrid engine and a revamped look. The refreshed Carnival will have new headlights that are vertically stacked, a new arrangement for the LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and a new hood. The headlights’ style is strikingly reminiscent of the EV9 SUV from Kia.
Yet, it is important to note that compared to the present model, the Carnival facelift’s proportions seem to have hardly altered. The Carnival makeover has new tail-lamp design at the back. The hybrid drivetrain for the Carnival makeover consists of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor.
