Three months before to the Women’s World Cup starting, Leah Williamson, the captain of England, seemed to suffer a knee injury during Wednesday’s match between Arsenal and Manchester United.
Early in the first half of the Women’s Super League game, Williamson fell and signalled to the bench before being assisted off the pitch. United triumphed by a score of one.
Williamson, a versatile player who can play in midfield or defence, assisted England in winning the European Championship last summer.
Beth Mead, a striker for England, is already absent and is anticipated to miss the World Cup after tearing her ACL in November.
