Mahesh and Madhu gave birth to Shikha in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her family relocated to Princeton, New Jersey, when she was a baby. She has three younger sisters and one older sister (Diya) (Neha, Nikita, and Nimita). While all four of her sisters play tennis, Shikha is by far the most accomplished.
She was recognised as the 2007 Zed Astitva Athlete of the Year. She was among the world’s ten fastest servers. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and south asia studies from Princeton University. She earned Princeton’s coveted Kit Harris Memorial Prize for Leadership and Ethics after graduating with outstanding academic status.
Shikha established SDU Services, Inc., a media and lifestyle business, in 2013. She also works as a social entrepreneur and produces and develops worldwide television programmes on social issues. She presents in international conferences on diplomacy on the topic of empowering women through sport. Recently, she received an invitation to join the World Economic Forum’s “Global Shapers Initiative” board of directors in Bhopal. She is a tennis and fitness teacher for players of all skill levels as well as a news and sports broadcaster.
