In Thane city of Maharashtra, a case has come to light of honey-trapping a shopkeeper and extorting Rs 6.9 lakh from him. The police have arrested three men including a woman in this case. According to the information, the victim shopkeeper runs an optical shop in Sri Nagar area.
In September last year, the accused woman befriended the shopkeeper. After this, she cleverly collected money from him several times. According to a news agency, on April 1, 2023, the woman called the shopkeeper to the Thane check naka on the pretext of some work and asked him to help her buy clothes. When the shopkeeper was taking her on a scooter to a nearby shop, the woman’s husband caught hold of her and threatened her.
The woman’s husband along with two other men allegedly blackmailed the shopkeeper by threatening to make the video of him with the woman viral on social media. Along with this, the shopkeeper was also threatened to file a police complaint against him for molesting his wife.
Four accused arrested
The officer said that the accused allegedly collected a total of Rs 6.9 lakh from him from time to time. The woman’s husband later demanded Rs 50,000 more from the shopkeeper, following which the shopkeeper lodged a police report on 13 May. The Srinagar police arrested the four accused by laying a trap on Sunday. A case has been registered against them for blackmailing the complainant and extorting money from him. The case is being investigated.
