Officials said that at least seven people, including three boys, are believed to have drowned in two separate instances that occurred on Sunday in Mumbai and the Maharashtra district of Chandrapur. Five young lads from Mumbai entered the Marve Creek in the early hours of the day.
Two of them were saved, while the other three disappeared, according to a Fire Brigade officer, who added that the group is still missing as of this writing. Four picnickers fell into Ghodazeri lake in Chandrapur district, east Maharashtra, while taking a picture at approximately 4.30 p.m., 106 kilometers from the district center, according to a police official.
The four guys, including a 17-year-old kid, are being sought by teams from the police and emergency management, the officer said, adding that the lake’s water level had risen as a result of recent rainfall. Due to adverse lighting and weather conditions, the search effort was put on hold on Sunday night.
Two of the five youngsters, ages 13 and 16, were pulled from the stream in Marve, Mumbai, before the fire department arrived, according to the official. He said that the other three—two boys aged 12 and one boy aged 13—were gone.
The officer stated that the Mumbai fire department, police, Coast Guard, Navy divers, ward staff members, and an ambulance all went to the scene. The search effort, which was suspended in the evening, also included a helicopter.
