The work of demolishing an 812 meter long Tekdi flyover has started in Nagpur, Maharashtra. In fact, this flyover is becoming a hindrance in the construction of a 6-lane road in front of the railway station. That’s why this flyover, which is only 15 years old, is being retired. Now the work of demolishing this 812 meter long Tekri flyover has been started from today. Shopkeepers had to wait for 57 months to remove them from under the flyover and demolish it.
This flyover was built in the year 2008, which is 812 meters long and 10.5 meters wide. The task of demolishing this flyover has been given to Mahametro, which runs the metro in Nagpur. It has been told that this flyover will be completely demolished in 15 days. In the year 2008, the cost of making this flyover was Rs 18.51 crore.
Metro Deputy General Manager Akhilesh Halve said that the work of removing the asphalt layer on the deck slab on the run of the flyover has been started.
The demolition work is being done 24/7, 175 shops have been built under this flyover. Of these, 160 shops have been given on lease for 30 years. The shopkeepers have decided to demolish them after 13 years of use. Earlier, shopkeepers had also filed a petition to ensure that the flyover is not demolished.
