A video of schoolchildren in north Maharashtra cheering for the convoy of an NCP minister who had just been sworn in has gone popular on social media.
The youngsters can be seen in the video standing on the road, with the guys standing on one side and the girls on the other. The children seem to be from an ashram shala in the Amalner tehsil of the Jalgaon district.
Residential schools known as “ashram shalas” are available to children from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
In the video, you can see the kids waiting for Anil Patil, who was sworn in as a minister in the state government along with eight other MLAs from his party, while some of them are seen without shoes.
The kids are seen rising up as soon as the minister’s car pulls up, some of them even saluting the minister.
The viral video has caused fury on social media, but neither the minister nor the local government have responded.
A police officer in Amalner, 350 kilometers from Mumbai, said that no information regarding the occurrence was available and that no complaints had yet been filed.
