A 22-year-old man who went to swim in a water-logged mine in Maharashtra’s Thane district died due to drowning. Yasin Tadvi, head of the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, said on Monday that Himanshu Mhatre, a resident of Indira Nagar in Turbhe area, went for a swim in a mine on Sunday evening, but could not estimate its depth and drowned in the water.
Yasin Tadvi told that the local police launched a search operation, but the operation had to be stopped at night due to darkness. An official said that a team of Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) descended into the mine at around 7 am on Monday and fished out the body. The body has been taken to a government hospital for postmortem. The officer said that the Rabale police have just registered a case of accidental death.
Earlier, a heart-wrenching incident had come to the fore in Kalyan of Thane district. Here three brothers together allegedly killed the live-in partner of the sister. After killing, his dead body was thrown into the Ulhas river. Three people have been arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder.
Khadakpada police station official told that the name of the deceased is Shahbaz Sheikh and his age is 21 years. Police said that Shahbaz’s body has not been recovered yet. According to the information received, Shahbaz Sheikh, a resident of Titwala, had a live-in relationship with divorced Mumtaz. There was often a dispute between the two. Seeing the dispute with the sister, her 2 real brothers and one mouthful brother decided to teach Shahbaz a lesson.
