In the early hours of Thursday, areas of Mumbai were hit by unseasonal rain, lightning, and thunderstorms, which provided some relief from the city’s sweltering and muggy conditions. They said that between one and two in the morning, the western suburbs had severe rains with lightning and thunder while the island metropolis and eastern suburbs only experienced light rain.
According to an official, the Malwani fire station and Goregaon both received 21 mm of rainfall, while Borivali recorded 19 mm, HBT Trauma Care Hospital (Jogeshwari) recorded 17 mm, Marol recorded 14 mm, and Kandivali recorded 12 mm. Some low lying locations saw water buildup because of a short period of heavy rain. No complaints of severe waterlogging in the city or suburbs, according to the municipal authorities.
Some residents claim that thunderstorms and heavy winds affected portions of Mumbai, causing trees and branches to fall in places like Marol. In Marol, the wind also dislodged several of the dwellings’ tin sheeting. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reports that no injuries related to the rain have been reported. The local trains and BEST buses, as well as other forms of public transportation, were operating regularly in both the city and the suburbs.
