Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has got a big success. It arrested a Bangladeshi man from Nagpur, where he had been living for more than a decade. To live in the country, the man first took the form of a Buddhist monk and then a gym trainer. Not only this, he used to help Bangladeshi people fraudulently obtain Indian passports.
Police said that 40-year-old accused Palash Bipan Baruva was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday. During investigation it came to light that he took the form of a Buddhist monk to come to India. Later, he started living as a gym trainer in Pivali river area in Teka, North Nagpur.
An official from Kapil Nagar police station said the ATS came to know about Baruwa when two Bangladeshi nationals, Maitri Baruwa and Ankon Baruwa, were arrested from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Later when both of them were interrogated it came to light that Palash Bipan Baruva had provided them passports. Let us tell you, both of them were caught when they were trying to fly to foreign countries using Indian passports. After this, the Nagpur unit of ATS conducted a covert operation for more than a month, during which Baruva’s activities were closely monitored, he said.
The official said that the accused had crossed the Indian border before 2010 posing as a Buddhist monk. He managed to escape the law enforcement agencies for almost four years by living in various Buddha Viharas in the city. After this Baruva started working as a gym trainer. During this period he also had a love affair and also went to Thailand. He said investigation has revealed that Baruva is linked to a racket that illegally provides Indian passports to Bangladeshi citizens.
