Mumbai Police has arrested a 30-year-old Bangladeshi youth for sexually assaulting a flight attendant on a Muscat-Dhaka flight. The incident occurred on Thursday when the Vistara plane was briefly landed at Mumbai airport.
A police official said that the accused has been identified as Mohammad Dulal, who is originally from Bangladesh. He was traveling on a flight from Muscat to Bangladesh via Mumbai. Just half an hour before the plane landed in Mumbai, he got up from his seat hugged the flight attendant, and tried to kiss her.
When other cabin crew tried to intervene in the matter, the accused started getting angry at them. The flight captain also tried to convince him, but nothing happened. The flight captain declared the accused an unruly passenger.
The accused was produced before the security forces after the plane landed at Mumbai airport. From there he was taken to Sahar police station. Following the complaint lodged by the flight attendant, a case was registered against the accused under the Indian Penal Code and he was arrested. After this, he was produced before the local court, where he was allowed to be kept in police custody till Friday.
