The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted an international drug trafficking racket with the arrest of two persons from Mumbai. Prohibited material has been seized from the arrested smugglers. The NCB official said that a total of 1.403 kg of MDMA (2917 tablets), 0.26 g of LSD (24 blots) and 1.840 kg of other drugs were seized in the three operations. He said, so far two people who took drugs have been arrested.
He said, in the first operation NCB officials got information about an international syndicate which was actively planning to smuggle several foreign drugs from Europe and America. After this, various intelligence systems were alerted for surveillance. On 23 June, a suspicious parcel sent from UK to Pune was tracked and intercepted in Mumbai. When the parcel was opened, 100 blue colored MDMA tablets and 24 LSD blot papers were found, the official said. Those were hidden inside a black portable audio system.
He said that after investigation and analysis, a person named S Kashyap was identified. During investigation it was found that he was also involved in illegal business. Kashyap was arrested in Pune on Friday with the help of the Maharashtra ATS, the official said. He said that incriminating evidence has been found during the preliminary inquiry. He said Kashyap used to buy drugs from a foreign smuggler for commission and supply them in Pune city and its surrounding areas. In another operation, the NCB seized 1.840 kg of hydroponic weed from Pune, the official said. Along with this, an accused named Adnan F was arrested, who had procured the drugs. He informed that in the third operation, NCB has seized 1.403 kg MDMA tablets (2917 tablets).
