The festival of Ganesh Utsav will be celebrated with great pomp across the country from 19th September. Meanwhile, the sculptor artists are busy giving final touches to their statues. Ganesh Utsav is celebrated in the most grand manner in Maharashtra. Perhaps this is the reason why the largest sculptors’ market of Central India is located in Nagpur. Artists are busy making different types of sculptures in Chita Oli, Nagpur. An artist in Nagpur has made an idol of Lord Ganesha from coconut. For this the he had to use 3000 coconuts. This idol was built by the temple trust of Parli Vaijnath. He had to work 24 hours a day for at least 20 days to make this statue.
Let us tell you that this statue is 12 feet long and 10 feet wide. The artist who made this statue says that making it was a big goal. He said, ‘Different types of coconuts have been used in making this statue. Small coconuts had to be planted at some places and big coconuts at others. Also, coconut peels have also been used at some places. The eyes of Lord Ganesha are made from coconut only. Sculptors say that eco-friendly Ganesh ji idol was made keeping the environment in mind. This idol has been sent to Parli.”
He told that in the coconuts from which the idol of Lord Ganesha has been prepared, the Prasad of 6 coconuts offered to Lord Ganesha from the famous Ganesh Tekri temple of India has also been used. He said, ‘One coconut each in both arms, one coconut each in both legs, one coconut has been used in the stomach of Lord Ganesha. The same coconut which was found as Prasad from Ganesh Tekdi temple has been used in the statue. Let us tell you that the idols from this market of Nagpur also go to foreign countries. Along with this, these idols are also sent to most of the states. In this market, idols of Lord Ganesha ranging from 5 inches to 21 feet have been made.
