A man was beaten to death in a village in Palghar district, following which a case of murder was registered against unknown persons. The police gave this information on Friday.
Accorind to the information from an official, the body was found lying near the Usgaon bus stop on Thursday morning. A Mandvi police official said, ‘Some passers-by saw the body of the old man and informed the police, following which a team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem to a government hospital.’
Police said that the victim has been identified as 62 years old Viva Vaida and was a resident of Sapgaon in the district and a search is on to nab the accused and also to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
One arrested for murder
In another case, police on Friday arrested a man and detained his 16-year-old son for allegedly stabbing a man to death in Palghar district’s Vasai. Senior Inspector Kailash Barve of Valiv police station said that 21 year old boy Ankit Shah was attacked with scissors on Thursday night by father and son. The crime took place at Wakad Pada and the police later sent the body for post-mortem to a government hospital.
