Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said in the Legislative Council that Aurangzeb can never be a hero of Muslims and no one should glorify him. Whoever does this will not be spared. Devendra Fadnavis said that the number of riots in Maharashtra has reduced but there have been attempts to destabilize Maharashtra. Deputy CM said that a large number of Aurangzeb’s posters were waved in the procession, statuses were put up and this happened in many districts, it is not a coincidence.
In Maharashtra’s Legislative Council, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that Aurangzeb was never the hero of Indian Muslims to date. He cannot be our hero. He was an aggressor, an invader. Our heroes are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj. APJ Abdul Kalam can be our hero. The way Aurangzeb mercilessly killed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, he cannot be our hero.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Aurangzeb was of Turkish Mongol descent. Only a few lakh people of this lineage are in India and Pakistan. That’s why the Muslims here cannot be descendants of Aurangzeb. That’s why he cannot be our hero. But an attempt was made to riot here in his name. It happened under a conspiracy. Evidence has also been found in the investigation. All I would say is that we will not create any discrimination on the basis of caste and religion in Maharashtra. But we will not tolerate the glorification of Aurangzeb and will not spare whoever does it.
