An official said on Tuesday that police in Maharashtra’s Thane district had detained a 60-year-old self-styled godman for allegedly raping a lady under the pretense of curing her of bad spirits and miseries.
The guy is accused of repeatedly raping a 35-year-old lady from the Bhayander neighborhood in this city starting in 2016 under the guise of aiding her after she contacted him, according to a police officer from the Bhayander police station.
He said that after realizing she had been duped by bogus promises, the lady reported it to the police.
According to the official, the police detained the accused on Monday based on the complaint and charged him in accordance with the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act.
