According to the health department, Maharashtra registered 597 new coronavirus cases on Friday, down from 754 the day before, while two more individuals died from the ailment in the state.
The state’s overall COVID-19 total jumped to 81,64,977 with these additions, while the death toll increased to 1,48,513, according to a report from the department.
On Thursday, the state reported 754 cases and three deaths associated with the illness.
According to the warning, 135 instances and one death were reported in Mumbai during the last 24 hours.
The second fatality was reported in the neighbouring Raigad district.
The coronavirus recovery rate in the state was 98.12%, while the death rate was 1.81%.
The agency said that 752 individuals who had been suffering from the respiratory ailment on the previous day had recovered, bringing their total to 80,11,747 and leaving the state with 4,717 current cases.
It said that 15,621 more coronavirus tests were carried out across the state, bringing the total number of tests to 8,69,67,964.
According to the agency, the state’s predominant COVID-19 strain at the moment is the XBB.1.16 Omicron variation. There have been 1,112 occurrences of the variation found in the state overall, and eight people have died as a result.
According to a municipal official, Mumbai recorded 135 COVID-19 cases and one fatality on Thursday, bringing the total and the death toll to 11,62,457 and 19,763, respectively.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation spokesman said, “The addition to the tally was a decrease from the 185 reported on Wednesday.”
According to the official, a 64-year-old man with comorbid conditions including diabetes and chronic renal disease was the only person to pass away as a result of the virus.
The city’s current caseload now stands at 1,114 after the recovery count rose by 206 over the last 24 hours to 11,41,580.
The official said that 1,88,40,698 coronavirus tests had been performed so far, including 1,559 on the previous day.
According to BMC statistics, the caseload doubled in 4,900 days, the total increase rate of cases between April 20 and 26 was 0.0144 percent, and the recovery rate is 98.2 percent.
