According to the police, three suspects have been taken into custody for the murder of Shiv Sena leader Akshay Thube in this area’s Chitalsar.
The three suspects were identified as Karan, Gurunath Jadhav, and Prashant alias Babu Jabar, according to Senior Police Officer Girish Gode.
On August 29, Akshay Thube’s family members reported him missing to the Chitalsar police station in Thane district, according to the police, who also stated a search operation was launched that day.
The deceased’s half burned corpse was discovered in a forest in Kokanipada, within the boundaries of Thane’s Chitalsar police station, on Wednesday night, according to the police.
The dead person had been stabbed in the face, neck, and waist. According to investigators, an effort was made to burn his corpse with gasoline in order to obliterate any potential evidence.
A gold chain, ring, and cellphone were reportedly also removed from his corpse, according to the authorities.
“We received information that a suspect in the case identified as Karan had gone to sell gold in a nearby jewelery shop,” the police said.
Police said that Karan, the suspect, was subsequently captured after a trap was laid. He admitted to having perpetrated the murder along with his two other accomplices when being questioned, and the police then apprehended the other two suspects.
According to information provided by the authorities on the occurrence, the murder was perpetrated because of certain financial activities. The accused Gurunath Jadhav got a debt of Rs. 3.50 lakh from Akshay Thube, who also harassed Jadhav relentlessly over it.
As a result, Gurunath Jadhav and his other conspirators planned to murder Akshay Thube. On August 29, they contacted him at a late hour under the pretense of returning his money.
Then, Akshay Thube was slain by Gurunath and his fellow conspirators after they assaulted him with a sharp object.
In order to conceal the identification of the dead, the three accused allegedly doused the corpse in gasoline before disposing of it in a deep forest near Kokanipada, which is within the jurisdiction of Chitalsar police station.
The deceased’s cell phone was intentionally tossed into a moving car in order to deceive the authorities about its whereabouts.
The police said that further inquiry into the situation is being conducted.
