Zilla Parishad member in Palghar, Maharashtra has been arrested for forging signatures on fake letter head of MP. The accused had approved projects worth Rs 10 crore by forging the MP’s signature.
Senior Inspector Sanjay Bramhane said that on the basis of the complaint of MP Rajendra Gavit, the police has arrested Urban Co-operative Bank President Habib Sheikh for cheating and forgery. He further said that Shaikh had allegedly forged the MP’s letterhead and his signature to get development works worth Rs 10 crore approved for the district.
The matter came to light when these works were sent to Gavit. He was surprised because he had never recommended these works. The officer said that after this he approached the police with a complaint of forgery.
Even before this, cases of forgery have come to the fore with the leaders. On 12 May 2022, a big cyber fraud took place with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Managing Director of Surya Company Raju Bista. 10 lakh rupees were stolen from the company’s account by taking the name of the MP.
Actually, the CGM of Surya Company had received a message on WhatsApp from an unknown number. The message asked to transfer money. The cyber thugs were so clever that they had put Raju Bista’s picture on WhatsApp. Because of this, CGM felt that Raju Bista was asking for Rs 10 lakh, so without any doubt, he transferred the money. Later he came to know that the relationship manager of the bank was also called in the name of the MP’s PA.
