On Monday, a fictitious video appeared on social media purporting to show a young person in Agra peeing on a wounded guy who was unconscious and laying on the ground.
The 30-second video revealed that the boy was assaulting the guy and even kicking him in the head.
Police acted quickly to take action once the video surfaced and captured the suspect.
According to media sources, Aditya, the accused, was detained and charged under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to kill) and other laws.
The footage is around three to four months old, said the authorities.
Who said the UP police?
“The police have arrested one accused and a search is underway for the others,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Suraj Kumar Rai.
Mr. Rai said in a video statement that the police were informed after the footage was widely shared.
“After looking into it, the police discovered that the victim had not reported anything to any police station in Agra about this. The youngster in the video has been identified as Aditya, and it was later discovered that the video was three to four months old,” the police officer said.
“We have also been looking into the other young people in the video. Aditya, the detained youngster, will be brought before the court, and legal action will be taken, Mr. Rai continued.
