Gopal Asthana served as chief business officer at Nykaa, a rival organization in the same industry as the Tata fashion brand, before becoming the helm of Tata CLiQ. Nykaa was run by businesswoman Falguni Nayar.
Asthana also has expertise with retail fashion companies since he worked with Shoppers Stop for almost 20 years, first as a category head in 1998 and then as executive vice president until leaving in 2019.
Tata CLiQ is a part of the multi-billion dollar firm Tata Digital, which also manages other online retailers including Croma, Big Basket, Tata Neu, and others.
Tata CLiQ offers more than only its own Westside clothes and accessories and Indian brands. Additionally, it has dabbled in selling well-known luxury labels from outside online in India, giving clients large discounts on expensive goods.
