The Chandrapur area of Maharashtra has recorded temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius this summer, making it the state’s hottest location, authorities said on Wednesday.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nagpur, the district, which is situated in the Vidarbha area, recorded a high temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and a low temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius.
The region has been experiencing oppressive heat since the early morning hours, and by the afternoon, the roads are empty as residents fear going outside in the scorching sun.
According to the RMC, the temperature on Tuesday reached 41 degrees Celsius in the 127-kilometer-distance Bramhapuri tehsil.
Wardha recorded 40.9 degrees Celsius, Akola 39.9 degrees Celsius, Amravati 39.6 degrees Celsius, Yavatmal 39.5 degrees Celsius, Buldana 39.2 degrees Celsius, Nagpur and Gondia 39 degrees Celsius, among other districts in the Vidarbha area, it added.
