On Wednesday, a water pipeline in Mumbai’s district of Andheri ruptured, sending spilling water several feet into the air close to residential structures.
The concerned pipeline, which has a diameter of 1200 mm, is reportedly situated in Oshiwara, just across from Infinity Mall. Around 2.45 pm, there was a reported rupture.
Social media users have been sharing footage of the event that show water flying up to 8 to 10-story buildings from the damaged pipeline.
According to a statement from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the hydraulic department initially shut off the water supply in the pipeline and repair work was started right away.
Due to the incident, various areas—including Millat Nagar, SVP Nagar, MHADA, and Lokhandwala—will not have access to water till the pipeline repair work is finished, it stated.
