On Wednesday, the Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) announced price reductions for its air-conditioned buses’ unlimited daily passes, which will be effective starting on April 7. The daily pass will now cost Rs. 50 instead of Rs. 60, and the monthly pass will cost Rs. 750 instead of Rs. 1,250.
Passengers would be relieved by the statement since the temperature is now increasing. The BEST said in a statement on Wednesday night that the new passes plans, which provide “simplicity” and “flexibility” to customers, had been revealed and would go into effect on Friday in an effort to make digital ticketing more appealing to Mumbai residents.
The BEST cancelled the original plans that attracted few participants in light of the feedback from the passengers. According to the company, updates have been made to its Super Savings Plans, student passes, unlimited ride cards, and senior citizens passes.
According to the statement, “The new plans have been intended to give simplicity and flexibility to customers,” adding that they may now use any plan to travel on both AC and non-AC buses.
Apart from Mumbai city and its environs, BEST offers public bus service to the nearby cities of Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mira-Bhayandar. The fleet’s more than 3300 AC and non-AC buses carry more over 30 lakh people each day.
According to the BEST statement, the project has combined all other fee slabs “for simplicity” and made Super Savings Plans under Rs 6 fare slab plans “cheaper”.
According to the press announcement, BEST’s Super Savings Plans include one- to four-week plans for frequent bus users, daily plans for those who only need to travel occasionally, and completely adaptable plans for irregular travel requirements.
The cost of the one-day and 30-day unlimited ride AC passes has been decreased “to encourage more customers to take advantage of its advantages,” according to the BEST.
For private school and college students, a straightforward single 30-day student ticket would be created, allowing 60 journeys for only Rs 200 as a ‘introductory offer’, while elderly persons will be eligible for a flat Rs 50 discount on any Super Savings Plans lasting 28 days or more.
The plans may be bought using both the BEST Chalo Card and the smartphone application, according to the transit organisation.
