Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Thursday that the Maharashtra government will launch a full-scale campaign to reduce pollution, starting with cleaning Mumbai’s roadways and collecting garbage from building sites.
Speaking with reporters after the chairing of a review meeting on the subject, Shinde said he held in-depth conversations on strategies to address growing pollution levels with the environment ministry, municipal heads, and collectors from other regions of the state.
“I have directed the relevant agencies to begin the process of reducing pollution immediately. The CM stated, “The BMC has been asked to hire tankers and use more manpower to clean roads using water.”
While the administration has been requested to concentrate on urban deforestation, the CM said that foggers—devices that generate fog via vigorous spaying—must be employed at building sites.
