In order to facilitate essential construction on the 6th line, which will link Khar Road and Goregaon stations, a ten-hour temporary traffic ban has been announced.
On October 26 and 27, there will be a brief stoppage of services. It will begin at 00.30 am and end at 10.30 am.
Suburban services that run between Andheri and Goregaon will not be accessible during this special block. It is suggested that commuters arrange their journey in this way.
On October 26, at 22.54 pm, the final local train from Mumbai CSMT to Goregaon will depart, and on October 27, at 12.07 am, the last train from Goregaon to Mumbai CSMT will depart.
At 11:16 am, the first suburban train from Mumbai CSMT to Goregaon is scheduled to depart after the traffic obstruction is lifted. At 11.23 am, the first local train from Goregaon to Mumbai CSMT will depart simultaneously.
The Western Railway said earlier this week that about 2,525 local train services will be discontinued till November 6 due to continuing works on the 6th line between Khar and Goregaon stations, which began on October 7. Every day, suburban trains 230 to 316 Up (going towards Churchgate) and Down (going towards Virar/Dahanu) would be impacted by these cancellations. In addition, on November 4 and November 5, 110 locals will be canceled.
These crucial improvements are being carried out by the Western Railway on the Harbour Line, which is managed by the Central Railways. By ensuring total segregation between mail or express trains and local trains, this initiative seeks to increase the local rail network’s carrying capacity.
According to Times of India reports, the 30-kilometer expansion of the 6th line—which will run from Mumbai Central to Borivli—is expected to cost Rs 918 crore.
