The Azad Maidan unit’s anti-narcotics cell in Mumbai detained a drug dealer and confiscated drugs worth Rs 68 lakhs from his hands.
A 23-year-old drug dealer was detained for having narcotics worth Rs 68 lakhs, according to Mumbai Crime Branch police. After the narcotics were seized, a case was filed under the Narcotic narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985 against the defendants.
According to a statement from the Mumbai Crime Branch, the court ordered the apprehended narcotics dealer to remain in police custody until May 16.
Officials said that further investigation is being conducted.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recovered narcotics in Indian seas on Saturday that were estimated to be worth Rs 15,000 crore. According to Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Ops), it is the greatest in terms of financial worth, and Pakistan is where the narcotics come from.
Sanjay Kumar Singh told ANI that the NCB and Navy had a successful operation in the Indian Ocean. In terms of its monetary worth, it is the biggest. The estimated worth in money is Rs. 15,000 crore. It came from the Iranian port of Chabahar. Pakistan is where the narcotics come from.
Singh said that the shipment was intended for India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. The mother ship was positioned at several seaside locations. The smaller boats would depart from different nations and pick up shipments from the mother ships. The shipment was intended for India, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. One citizen of Pakistan has been detained,” he said.
He continued by saying that the operation began in February of last year and that the team has so far confiscated almost 4000 kg of different substances as part of it. In the course of Operation Samudragupta, which began in February 2022, around 4,000 kilograms of different substances had been confiscated, according to Singh.
