On Wednesday morning, suburban services on the Central Railway’s main line were delayed by 10-15 minutes as a result of a technical issue in a local train in Mumbai, an express train’s alarm chain pulling, and a female passenger’s attempt to forcibly board the motorman’s cabin of another local train, according to officials.
According to Central Railway’s chief public relations officer, Dr. Shivraj Manaspure, a rapid local train traveling to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai was delayed for 20 minutes owing to a mechanical issue in the Bhandup-Nahur segment.
Additionally, he said, the Solapur-CSMT Express was stopped at Badlapur station in the neighboring Thane district due to an alarm chain pulling. At Diva station in Thane district, a lady passenger joined the motorman’s cabin in a Khopoli local train headed for the CSMT, creating delays for trains between 6.52 and 7.05 in the morning, according to the official.
Manaspure said that the operations of the suburban train were disrupted as a result of the commuter’s protracted refusal to leave the motorman’s cabin. He urged people not to activate the alarm chain or enter the motorman’s or guard’s cabin.
On its suburban network, the Central Railway transports over 35 lakh passengers every day. From CSMT, trains go along the main route to Kasara in Thane district and Khopoli in Raigad district.
