An official said on Monday that two people were detained and offenses were filed against applicants who engaged in unethical behavior during the written test for the recruitment of constables in the Mumbai police.
Out of 83,847 applicants, at least 78,522 took the written exam on Sunday at 213 testing sites, the official said.
Although there were no unfavorable incidences recorded during the test, he claimed that fraud had been committed at centers in Bhandup, Kasturba Marg, Meghwadi, and Goregaon.
According to him, Goregaon police detained a 20-year-old candidate from Aurangabad for cheating during the test while Bhandup police detained a candidate from Jalna.
A 24-year-old candidate from the Jalna district of Maharashtra was detained after being spotted using a tiny electronic gadget at the testing site in Bhandup, the official said.
According to him, the two detained applicants were using a tiny electronic gadget with earphones and a slot for a SIM card.
The official said, “A case has been registered against the accused under section 417 (cheating) and other pertinent provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board, and Other Specified Examinations Act.”
